We
recognize that patients from out-of-town have additional needs and do our utmost
to accomodate them. We have prepared this section to provide you with extra
information and assistance to make your experience as hassle-free as possible.
Out-of-town patients should send us their medical records for review prior to making an appointment. This is to ensure that you are a likely candidate for Laparoscopic Tubal Reversal and to prevent an unnecessary trip.
Upon review and approval, you will be given an appointment. If you have already made up your mind to have the surgery, we can schedule it for the day after the appointment. To do this, you must pay the entire fee up front for us to be able to reserve the operating room. This fee will be reimbursed to you in full if the surgeon cancels or postpones your surgery; however, there is a non-refundable $250 cancellation fee if you decide to cancel or postpone the surgery yourself.
Your appointment will take place at our office in the Oak Brook Medical and Surgical
Centre. Oak Brook is an upscale suburb of Chicago, Illinois, and easy to reach
from O'Hare International Airport or Midway Airport. You must make your flight
or transportation arrangements yourself.
Your appointment will be on a Monday. Our limousine will pick you up at your hotel and take you to our office. There, a complete history will be taken, a physical exam performed, and your medical records will be reviewed. We will explain the entire procedure in detail, as well as give you our evaluation of your condition.
If Laparoscopic Tubal Reversal surgery is appropriate for you, and if you are ready to have it performed, blood will be drawn for lab analysis. Lab results are good for 30 days.
A nurse will visit you at your hotel room the day after surgery to inspect and dress your wounds, and go over medications and instructions. You will then be discharged and ready to go home. We will forward your operative reports, labs, and other information to your local physician so he or she can take charge of your care. You should visit your doctor 5-7 days after surgery to have your incisions examined. In most cases, the few stitches that were placed will be under the skin and will be absorbed by the body, without need for removal.
We will follow up with you by phone, fax, or email to check on your progress. We also ask that you contact us as soon as you become pregnant to share the good news.
